Howard T. Alter is a founder and Managing Partner of Roundview Capital, a firm dedicated to providing discretionary investment management and family office services to high-net-worth families. With a career spanning over three decades, Mr. Alter oversees capital allocation, research, and firm management, leading a team committed to delivering curated client-focused outcomes. He specializes in strategic problem solving for client families, addressing complex challenges in healthcare, business, and family relationships with tailored, innovative solutions.
Mr. Alter holds an MBA in Finance from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from The George Washington University. He began his career in finance in New York City before co-founding Roundview Capital (formerly Alter Asset Management) with Stephen Shueh.
A dedicated philanthropist, Mr. Alter supports medical research and children’s self-esteem initiatives. He serves on the Rheumatology Advisory Board at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, advancing research in rheumatoid arthritis. He also funds Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES) research at NYU Langone Health, collaborating with Dr. Anna Nowak-Wegrzyn, a globally recognized expert. His contributions drive progress in diagnostics and treatments for these conditions.
In the arts, Mr. Alter is a Managing Member of Happy Recap Productions and a Tony-nominated producer for the Broadway revival of Gypsy, starring Audra McDonald. His theater credits include the Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard, Just in Time and Dead Outlaw. Mr. Alter co-produced How to Dance in Ohio, the first Broadway musical with an autistic cast. As lead producer, he is developing Like Father, a new musical about true crime and family dynamics, set for regional production in the 2026-2027 season.
An avid long-distance runner, Mr. Alter has completed marathons in New York City, Chicago, San Diego, Memphis, and Quebec, and has trained dozens of individuals to prepare for long-distance running events. A passionate New York Mets fan, he is manifesting bringing a World Series championship back to Flushing, NY. He is also a baseball historian.
Mr. Alter resides in Pennington, NJ, and is married to Nancy, with whom he has three children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and two grandchildren.
